Double Diamond Circular ShawlThe motif of this lovely shawl is based on the Italian Lace Medallion pattern found in several knitting treasuries. The points of the border are adapted further to introduce lace into the diamonds which would have been stocking stitch in the original repeat of the motif. The construction of the shawl is a very old "short rows" method and the main additional feature is that the lace border is knitted as part of the main shawl and not added later. 7 skeins of "Artisan Lace" from Margaret Stove are needed to complete a shawl measuring approx 56" inches in diameter after washing and blocking.
