These linen colored squares in the Aran patterning technique can be made to match the afghan exactly as presented, but the author, (instruction editor at Knitter's Magazine) reminds us to be creative with these winning designs. Fewer squares make a baby blanket, more a bed spread, and one at a time make delicate pillows. I am charmed by the rolling cables bordering the whole blanket. The various cable patterns, designed by winners in the magazine's contest, are amazingly creative. I'd suggest this for those familiar with knitting, especially working with cable needles. What a triumph the finished product will be!
