"Aloo" Yarn "Aloo" from Himalaya Yarns is an interesting plant fiber available in limited quantities seasonally. The Himalayan aloo plant is a close relative to the North American nettle, and its harvesting & processing into yarn are similar to the methods used for flax & linen. Much care & effort are taken to soften the fibers, & traditionally the people of Nepal have used "Aloo" for making fishing nets, string bags & storage totes. With additional handling & washing, "Aloo" softens even more & works well for making bags, totes, loofahs & dishcloths either used alone or in combination with other Himalaya Yarns such as Recycled Silk.
