Yarn dolls are a folk-art form related to tassels, and like tassels, may have been around for thousands of years. The "Yarn Kid" that results from these instructions is about 10" tall and a perfect figure for which to make small crocheted items - like hats and scarves. The pattern only calls for a worsted weight yarn, we suggest "Worsted Wool" by Caledon Hills. All skin-tone colors for the Yarn Kid can be found, as well as a wide variety of colors for the scarves and hats. Yarn Kids will make great gifts for the children in your family, or make them for a local children's charity project. Yarn Needed is as follows: 1.5 skeins for the 10" tall Yarn Kid, 1 skein for 11 scarves (1" x 17" ea.), and 1 skein for 6-7 hats (10" circumference and 4" high).
