When the designer was a newlywed back in the 1970's, her husband was drafted and sent to an Army base in Alaska. They were close to utter wilderness and climbed glaciers, fished for salmon, and hunted moose, but they never saw the native Puffin bird, a black and white bird with a yellow-orange beak. Her inspiration in designing these socks was to pay homage to this cute little bird. She used Crystal Palace's "Puffin" yarn, an ultra-soft, woven ribbon yarn of 100% polyester fleece construction making for superb texture & hues. She obviously chose the black and white colors of the yarn to represent the colors of the bird. PLEASE NOTE: Pre-selected color choices may not match the photo because a color may be temporarily out of stock or discontinued by the manufacturer.
