Check Out Favorite Staff Picks for Early Holiday Planning and Christmas in July Projects   Advent Calendar   For those of you like the staffers here at Yarnmarket, we're starting to work on our holiday gift lists already. No, we're not talking about the list of what we'd like to receive in December -- we're talking about the gifts we want to make and give during the holidays. And remember that we made a New Year's resolution the beginning of this year that we were going to avoid the stress this time of procrastinating? Well, we're living up to that promise by starting to plan things out and having lots of fun looking through our Project Ideas department for the latest and greatest options for our friends and relatives.   Classic Felted Slippers   First off, for all of our relatives and their families, we're going to make something that everyone can use to celebrate the holidays. We love the Liberty Wool Advent Calendar featured in Knit Simple magazine. We know that our relatives with children will enjoy counting down the days (and revealing a sweet treat too!) until the Big Day. Another option is to make holiday stockings for everyone on our list, and in our Holiday Items category, we currently feature four stocking designs requiring different skill levels. We especially like the Kid Classic Christmas Stocking with its Nordic/Scandinavian theme. And our quick peek through that projects area reminds us to make something for our Jewish friends too. We bet they and their families would enjoy the symbolic Comfort Star of David Pillow.   Easy Baby Blanket   Then for the women and girls on our list, we're considering making everyone a pair of slippers! The feminine Classic Felted Persian Slippers caught our eye and would be great for our closest relatives. We also like the colorful Kureyon Crochet Slippers, the clever Taos Felted Slipper Socks where we can learn a new technique and the dainty Kid Classic Baby Slippers for the wee ones so that we have some variety in our slipper projects. And speaking of those precious wee ones in our lives and those due before the holidays, we have to make each of them something special, don't we? Our favorite go-to project for newborns and toddlers is to create a soft, cuddly blanket they'll enjoy, and since we now have over 90 projects in our Baby Blanket department, we have oodles of options. We've knitted up the Easy Puffin Baby Blanket several times in different color combinations and love it because the yarn is so velvety soft and it starts with a free pattern. More recently the Cuddles Stroller Baby Blanket Or Throw has caught our eye, and it too starts with a free pattern from Crystal Palace. Or for a special heirloom-quality blanket, perhaps to be used only on special occasions, the Aurora Lightweight Baby Blanket and the Pashmina Baby Blanket are both quite lovely. OK, now we realize that we'd better get busy with all these projects to do in only 22 or so weeks, so we'll report back in a few weeks on our progress and any other ideas we come up with! July Clearance Sale Is Still Going Strong   Cartwheel Yarn 73% OFF   As we announced last Tuesday, we need to make room for all of the fall & winter yarns we'll start receiving soon, so we're clearing out some of our discontinued items with great sale prices. Now some of our fantastic yarn deals have sold out but there's still plenty of choice in our Summer Clearance Yarns department. For example, Cartwheel yarn from Moda Dea is still available in limited quantities at 73% off but you know it won't last long at that price ($1.88 a skein!!). Also several of our all-time favorite Berroco novelty yarns are still available, and these lovely eyelash beauties make great scarves for gift giving. Be sure to take a look at Zap Colors, Plume FX and Zoom before we're sold out. Even though most of the Karabella Bargain Yarns we featured last week are sold out or running very low in inventory, we still have some great options from Gedifra and GGH. Remember that this sale runs through Tuesday, July 31st, but we may run out of your favorites by then. So keep in mind that when we run out, that yarn is gone forever from Yarnmarket.com!
