Abbey Scarf

This is a variation of Father Dennis scarf using Abbey Collection merino yarn. I doubled the yarn so it would be thicker and faster to knit.

4+ skeins Abbey Collection Abbey Merino yarn(any color). If you want to make scarf longer, add another 2 skeins.

Cast on 24 stitches using 2 strands of yarn.

Knit Cross Panel according to instructions, above.
Knit the scarf as long as you want less the length of the Cross Panels you want to add at the end of the scarf. (This will vary according to how many cross panels you have chosen to do on the original end of the scarf.)

Knit Reverse Cross Panel according to instructions, above. (Match the number you did on the original end of the scarf.)
Knit 2 rows.

Gauge: 4.5 sts=1

Note: This pullover is made using Color A in reverse stockinette, (purl side) and Color B in stockinette (knit side).
Back: With Color A, (right back) cast on 45 (50) sts and work in reverse stockinette stitch until piece measures 14 (16). Place underarm markers. Continue until piece measures 22 (24.5). Place sts on holder. With Color B, (left back) cast on 45 (50) sts and work in stockinette until piece measures 13 (15). Place underarm marker. Continue until piece measures 21 (23.5). Place sts on holder.
Fronts: With Color A, (left front) cast on 45 (50) sts and work in reverse stockinette stitch until piece measures 14(16). Place underarm marker. Continue until piece measures 19 (20.5). Begin neck shaping: At neck edge bind off 9 sts. Then at neck edge dec 1 st every other row 9 (10) times. Continue until piece measures 22 (23.5). Place remaining sts on holder. With Color B, (right front) cast on 45 (50) sts and work in stockinette until piece measures 13 (15). Place underarm marker. Continue until piece measures 19 (20,5). Begin neck shaping: At neck edge bind off 9 sts. Then at neck edge dec 1 st every other row 9 (10) times. Continue until piece measures 21 (23.5). Place remaining sts on holder.
Sleeves: (make two the same) With Color B cast on 36 (38) sts. Work two rows. Begin sleeve shaping: Inc 1 st each side every 4th row 4 (17) times, then every 6th row 14 (7) times. Continue until piece measures 15 (16.5). Bind off 72 (86) sts.
Finishing: Assemble the center seams working the join from the right (public) side for the front and the back. Assemble shoulders with a three-needle bind off from the right side. Assemble sleeve underarm and side seams from the wrong side (non-public).
Neck finishing: With size 7 circular needle and right side facing pick up 17 left side neck sts, 18 bound off sts, 17 right side neck sts and 36 (39) back neck stitches. Purl one row. Bind off loosely knitwise.
Bottom and sleeve edges: With size G crochet hook, single crochet around bottom and sleeves edges with corresponding colors.
Pocket: Make two, one with Color A and one with Color B. Cast on 20 sts. Work in stockinette stitch for 4 (5). Bind off. Join the two pieces together, stockinette side out, with single crochet.
Twisted Ties: With Color B cut two lengths of yarn 18 long. Fold one piece of yarn in half. Insert needle into fold and twist clockwise until it feels like it cannot twist anymore. Fold it in half and allow it to twist onto itself. Repeat with the other piece of yarn.
With crochet hook, insert twisted ties on Front A as shown in photo. Thread the tie through the pocket.

Make one, right slant: insert the left needle from back to front under the ladder and knit this lifted strand through the front to twist the stitch to the right. Make one, left slant: insert the left needle from front to back under the ladder and knit this lifted strand through the back to twist the stitch to the left.
Back: With size 7 needle cast on 76 (86, 99) sts. Work in stockinette stitch until piece measures 14, (15, 16). Place underarm markers.
Increase rows for cap sleeve: Knit 3 sts, make one, right slant, pm, knit to last 3 sts, pm, make one, left slant, knit 3. Work in stockinette 3 rows. Knit to marker, make one, right slant, slm, k to next marker, slm, make one left slant, k to end. Work in stockinetten 3 rows. Continue in this manner, repeating the increases and working in stockinette for 4 rows 10 (11, 12) more times. (100, 112, 127 sts). Work until back measures 22.5 (24, 25.5) Bind off.
Front: Work as for the back including all shaping, and, at the same time when the piece measures 19.5 (21.5, 22.5) begin neck shaping. Neck shaping: Work to center 10 (10, 13) sts, attach another ball of yarn, bind off center 10 (10, 13) sts, complete row. Work both side at the same time. Bind off 2 sts at neck edge 2 (2, 3) times. Dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 7 (7, 6) times. Continue until piece measures 22.5 (24, 25.5).
Finishing: Join shoulder seams.
Mock Turtle Neck: with smaller circular needle, right side facing, pick up and knit 21 sts from right neck edge, 10 (10, 13) from front, 21 from left neck edge, and 32 (32, 37) back neck sts, place marker, and join. 84 (84, 92). Work k2, p2 for 3 (3, 4). Bind off in rib.
Sleeve finishing: Right side facing, from armhole marker, pick up and knit 88 (88, 92) sts to opposite marker. Work in k2, p2 pattern. Working in pattern, dec 1 st each end every right side row 3 times. Bind off in pattern.
Join side seams. Weave in all ends. Single crochet around the bottom hem. Block lightly.
